It is not possible to renew or pay for your HIBP subscription before its scheduled renewal date.
Subscriptions renew at the end of their current term, and payment is processed at the same time as the renewal. These two actions are part of a single transaction and cannot be separated.
Because of this, we are unable to:
- Force a renewal before the eligible renewal date
- Accept payment in advance
- Manually process an early renewal
- Adjust or extend the renewal date to accommodate early payment
What if my payment method is time-sensitive?
If your organisation is using a credit card or payment method that will expire before your renewal date, a valid payment method must be available at the time the subscription renews.
If obtaining a new card can take time, we recommend beginning that process well in advance of your renewal date. You may also wish to coordinate internally to ensure an active payment method is available on the day renewal is due.
Even in cases involving expiring one-time corporate cards, HIBP cannot process payment before the scheduled renewal date.
Why is early payment not supported?
Early renewal and advance payment are not supported due to limitations within Stripe, the billing platform used to manage HIBP subscriptions.
Stripe does not currently support:
- Collecting payment before a subscription’s renewal date
- Separating payment from the renewal event
- Holding funds for a future subscription period
- Deferring activation after payment has been made
As a result, subscriptions renew only at the end of their current term, payment is captured at that time, and the new subscription period begins immediately after successful payment.
Because this functionality is not supported by Stripe, we cannot manually override or force early renewals.
